Inherited from Proto-Turkic *bog- (to strangle, choke).[1]

Cognate with Chuvash пӑв (păv), Turkish boğmak, Uzbek bo'g'moq, Bashkir быуыу (bıwıw), Yakut буой (buoy).

بُغْماقْ (boğmāq) (third-person singular aorist بُغارْ (boğār))

  1. (transitive) to strangle
    اُلْ اَرْنىِ بُغْدىِOl ernī boğdï̄.He strangled the man.
