Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from Classical Persian بَفَرْضِ مُحَال (bafarz-i muhāl). By surface analysis, بَ (ba, in) +‎ فَرْضِ (farz-i, example; instance of) +‎ مُحال (muhāl, inconceivable; impossible), literally in the case of the inconceivable.
