Assyrian Neo-Aramaic[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Borrowed from Classical Syriac ܡܵܪܬܝ (“mārt”, literally “My lady”). The original, Classical meaning of “My lady” is not felt and this word is only used as a title for saints. Corresponds to ܡܵܪܬܝܼ mārtī, “My lady”.
