From Proto-Semitic *ʿanbab- (fruit, flower, shoot), ultimately Proto-Afroasiatic *ʿanbab- (plant, flower). Compare Classical Syriac ܥܢܒܬܐ (ʿinbəṯā), Arabic عِنَب (ʕinab), Hebrew עֵנָב (ʿēnāḇ).
