Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀊𑀲𑀅 (ūsaa), from Sanskrit उच्छीर्षक (ucchīrṣaka), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *ut-śīrṣa. Compare Konkani उशें (uśẽ), Gujarati ઓશીકું (ośīkũ), Hindi उसीसा (usīsā).
