Borrowed from Classical Persian ملک (mulk), from Arabic مُلْك (mulk, kingdom, dominion). Compare Gujarati મુલક (mulak), Hindi मुल्क (mulk), Punjabi ਮੁਲਕ (mulak) / مُلک (mulk).
