Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from Classical Persian هر (har), ultimately from Proto-Iranian *hárwah, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *sárwas (whole, all, entire), from Proto-Indo-European *solh₂-wó-s, from *solh₂- (whole) +‎ *-wós. Doublet of সব (śob). Cognate with Ancient Greek ὅλος (hólos, complete, whole), Hindustani ہر / हर (har).
