Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Old Punjabi ਅੰਦਰਿ (andari), from Prakrit 𑀅𑀁𑀢𑀭 (aṃtara), from Ashokan Prakrit 𑀅𑀁𑀢𑀭 (aṃtara), from Sanskrit अन्तर (ántara)[1] and borrowed from Classical Persian اندر (andar).[2] Doublet of ਅੰਤਰ (antar), a learned borrowing.
