Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from Pali manussa,[1] ultimately from Sanskrit मनुष्य (manuṣya). Cognate with Nyah Kur พะนิฮ่ (pha nìh). Compare Khmer ម្នឹស (mnɨh), which is the colloquialism of មនុស្ស (mɔnuh).
