Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Kartvelian verbal roots *q̣w(l)ep- (to scratch off), *q̣w(l)ip- (to strip off), *q̣w(l)p- (to fade). Cognate with Georgian ყვლეფა (qvlep’a).
Alternatively, Ačaṙean derives from Armenian կլեպ (klep, bark, peel).
