Of native Korean origin. From 되다 (doeda, “strong”) + 소리 (sori, “sound”).

- (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [ˈtwe̞(ː)nsʰo̞ɾi] ~ [ˈtø̞(ː)nsʰo̞ɾi]
- Phonetic hangul: [뒌(ː)소리/된(ː)소리]
- Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
