Gothic[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Possibly from Proto-Germanic *rลhsniz, possibly from *rลkijanฤ… (โ€œto attend to, care forโ€) + *-(s)niz (nominal suffix), literally, โ€œprotected thingโ€, though the form would have to be analogical (one would expect *๐‚๐‰๐Œบ๐Œฝ๐ƒ).[1]
