Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Anatolian *lรณlos or *lฤlos. Kloekhorst further suggests an onomatopoeic origin. Compare Cuneiform Luwian ๐ท๐ท๐ (la-li-iลก, โtongue, gossipโ) and Hieroglyphic Luwian ๐๐๐ฃ๐ฏ๐ค (LINGUA-la-ti-i-na /โ lalatฤซnaโ /, โlanguageโ, accusative singular).
