From Iranian *-čan. Compare Parthian -cn (-čan) in šʾdcn (šād-čan, happy), Sogdian -cn (-čan, inclined to; belonging to), ultimately from Proto-Indo-Iranian *kan-, *čan- (to love, take pleasure in).
