Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Indo-European *-tor, the primary third-person singular middle ending.

Suffix[edit]

-յր (-yr)

  1. third-person singular imperfect ending of verbs
    որսայրorsayrhe was hunting
    գրէրgrērhe was writing
    հայէրhayērhe was looking
    արգելոյրargeloyrhe was hindering

Usage notes[edit]

When preceded by -ե- (-e-), the ending was -էր (-ēr) through the regular եյ (ey)է (ē) change.
