Appendix talk:Sanskrit Swadesh list

Please betray the reader the employed source(s). It is extremely difficult to find out the unmarked, primary response/concept in dead languages, as necessary and demanded for Swadesh lists! HJJHolm 10:09, 23 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The sometimes referred to Monier-Williams (1899) is outdated! Please use newer sources as e.g. Mayrhofer's Etymologisches Wörterbuch des Altindoarischen (EWAia), or A.M. Lubotsky online, when hopefully his URL indoeuropean.nl will be online again. HJJHolm 15:41, 2 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

87 neck[edit]

कण्ठ (kaṇṭha) is 'throat', never 'neck'!! HJJHolm 11:16, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup[edit]

@माधवपंडित: Hello. I've tried to clean up this list a little, but seeing that I don't know any Sanskrit, there's only so much I can do. Do you think you could improve that? Also, there's the problem of redundancy between manual and automatic translits, but I'm loath to remove the manual ones because they document the placement of the accent. Thank you! --Barytonesis (talk) 12:23, 21 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Barytonesis: You're right this list is a mess. Some words are wrong and you did a good job of correcting them. The verbs are given along with their roots. I'll sort it out. -- माधवपंडित (talk) 01:40, 22 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
