Arabic citations of أركون

  • 10th century CE, Abū al-Faraj Muḥammad ibn al-Nadīm, الفِهْرِسْت [al-fihrist, The Book Catalogue]:
He said, "Then one of the archons, the stars, the Scream, Greed, Lust, and Sin intermingled, and from their coupling came the First Human, Adam. The two who brought him forth were two archons, a male and a female. Then the two coupled once more, and from it came forth the Fair Woman, Eve. But when the five angels saw the light of God and his goodness, which Greed had stolen and which he had sealed inside the two newborns, they pleaded with the Messenger, the Mother of Life, the Protoman, and the Spirit of Life to send to the first newborn one who could set him free and deliver him, and teach him knowledge and virtue, and save him from the fiends."
