    Herein, we describe and name a new genus and species of ankylosaur, Vectipelta barretti, from the lower Barremian Wessex Formation of the Isle of Wight. Vectipelta may be as much as 8 million years older than the holotype of Polacanthus, and differs from it in features of the cervical and dorsal vertebrae and the iliosacral block.
