Etymology[edit]

First attested as Die Hollantse Radinge in 1696. Derived from Hollands (of or pertaining to Holland) and a hypercorrect form of raaiing (boundary line, boundary). The settlement is located next to a ditch which marks the border between Utrecht and Noord-Holland.
