@Theknightwho This and its subpage need to be moved. Can you do it? It this page for Hokkien specifically? Benwing2 (talk) 23:25, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Benwing2 Yeah, will do. I've been gradually getting through everything, so I'll get to this once I start handling the data modules.
I'll start a thread about it, but we won't be able to retire the nan code fully until we've had yet another Southern Min thread on which additional lects need new langcodes, since the previous thread only dealt with the lects that already had etym-only codes: I've just had to add an emergency etym-only code for Haklau Min under nan to prevent Module:zh-usex from throwing errors, since until today Module:zh-usex/data had a bunch of nonstandard codes in the data for various lects, and was using the same shitty hack as Module:zh-pron by shaving off the end of the langcode to determine the parent. Haklau Min should probably be a full language, as should a few other lects which don't have codes at all at the moment, but they'll need discussion first. @Theknightwho Sounds good. Yeah, splitting can be messy esp. languages with lots of lemmas and a well-developed infrastructure, although merging is even worse. E.g. it's been requested for awhile now to merge North and South Levantine Arabic, but doing the merging requires extensive changes to the templates as well as lots of language-specific knowledge, and the person who made the request hasn't had the time to help with these things.
