Types of compounds[edit]

Would anyone know why Category:Dutch bahuvrihi compounds appears in Category:Dutch compound words (it goes for the other language-specific categories as well), but Category:Bahuvrihi compounds by language isn't in Category:Compound words by language? --Barytonesis (talk) 20:22, 27 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Barytonesis: I'm guessing that's just how the "by language" categories work: they only contain the language categories, not other categories. For another example, see Category:Lemmas by language, which doesn't contain nouns by language, verbs by language, etc. which are placed in Category:Lemmas subcategories by language instead. — Eru·tuon 01:52, 28 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Erutuon: So you'd suggest that I create the intermediate Category:Subtypes of compounds by language? --Barytonesis (talk) 12:34, 28 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Barytonesis: Something like that, but it would have to be added to the category tree modules somehow. — Eru·tuon 18:26, 28 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
I can see how categories are added to the category Lemmas subcategories by language in Module:category tree/poscatboiler/data/lemmas, and I was puzzling over how the category was created, but it turns out it doesn't use a module. So I think you can just create the category, then put fundamental = "Subtypes of compounds by language" in the data tables for each of the compound categories in Module:category tree/poscatboiler/data/terms by etymology. — Eru·tuon 18:36, 28 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Root sort[edit]

@Benwing2 Thanks for the great work! Is it possible to sort the categories like Category:Maltese 3-letter roots by their root? For now, they are all treated as starting with t. Thanks in advance. فين أخاي (talk) 00:39, 31 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Fenakhay: Done. Benwing2 (talk) 00:53, 31 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Benwing2: Apparently, it is not working in Category:Arabic 3-letter roots فين أخاي (talk) 01:24, 31 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Fenakhay: Once you change the sort category, it takes awhile for the changes to register unless you do a null-save of each page. I did that for the Maltese pages but not the Arabic pages, which is why you see the Maltese pages in the correct place. I'll go ahead and do a run for Arabic; it should be done in about 45 minutes.
