Etymology[edit]

First attested as in den nederen-eynde van jutfaes in 1381-1383. Compound of the toponym Nedereind (derived from Middle Dutch neder (low, lower) and ende (end)) and wech (way, road). Named after a road running through the Nedereind polder.
