- (Friesland) Compound of oost (“east-, eastern”) and hoek (“corner”). The toponym contrasts with Westhoek. See also West Frisian De Oasthoek.
- (Zuid-Holland) First attested as Oosthoeksche Dijk in 1899. Compound of oost (“east-, eastern”) and hoek (“corner”). The settlement is located in the eastmost corner of the Oud-Piershil polder.
