From Proto-Iranian *raHíwāh, from *raHíš +‎ *-wāh, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *raHíš, from Proto-Indo-European *reh₁ís (wealth, goods). Cognate with Avestan 𐬭𐬀𐬉𐬬𐬀𐬥𐬙 (raēvant, rich).
