Etymology[edit]

From earlier *parša, probably borrowed from Proto-Baltic [Term?] (whence Lithuanian paršas (piglet, castrated boar)). Borrowing from Proto-Germanic *farhaz is also possible, but less likely. Doublet of *porcas.
