Proto-Germanic[edit]
Alternative forms[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Uncertain. Probably from Proto-Indo-European *dewk- (“to pull”) or *dewh₂- (“to tie to, secure”) suffixed with *-tróm or *-dʰrom, but Kroonen prefers an alternative relationship to *deh₁-.
