Compound of *xarъ (gloomy, dark) +‎ *-o- +‎ *pǫditi (to fear, to be afraid).

Verb[edit]

*xaropǫditi[1][2]

  1. get very frightened (mostly about horses and cattle)
  2. to be annoyed, to be angry, to misbehave
