Proto-Uralic[edit]
Etymology[edit]
One of the words limited to the traditional Finno-Ugric group. Contrast Proto-Samoyedic *ërö (“autumn”) (from Proto-Uralic *ëde (“year”)).
Reconstruction[edit]
The Samic and Khanty reflexes show an assimilation *s-ś > *ś-ś; compare also e.g. *sańśa- (“to stand”). A number of forms including Finnic and Udmurt suggest a parallel or extended form *sükeśe.
Noun[edit]
*sükśe
