Latin sermō[edit]

The Etymology section says, “Cognate with Latin sermō (discussion, speech, conversation, talk)”, and the page for sermō itself says that it is from PIE root *ser- (to bind), whose page reciprocates by claiming sermō. However Germanic swarō is claimed by PIE root *swer- ‘to resound, speak loundly, swear’. --Caoimhin (talk) 14:39, 18 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

There is definitely no way that sermō and swarō can be related. —Rua (mew) 15:18, 18 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
