In the hungarian language "sváb" means a person of austrian german origin living in the west hungarian countryside, while "svábok" means a group of them and/or the entire ethnic minority. (Most of them were forcibly expatriated to german homeland on soviet military orders back in 1946-47, through the concept of "collective guilt" for WW2. Only a few of them were allowed to stay owing to their agricultural prowess. They retain their use of "folksy german" mother tongue, often with only spotty knowledge of the hungarian language but their remaining villages are prosperous and they are not subject to discrimination.) 195.184.22.129 18:51, 9 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
