Length of the iota

@JohnC5, ObsequiousNewt The variant spelling Σεμεείν and the transliteration of the Hebrew etymon (shimʿī) suggest to me that the final iota in Σεμεΐ would be long; however, the pronunciation given in the entry is {{grc-IPA|w=Σεμεΐ˘}}. What is the basis for adjudging the iota short, may I ask? — I.S.M.E.T.A. 16:57, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
