Why there's no Etymology?[edit]

It seems to be so simple:'η σκιά -> ήσκιος ->ίσκιος; I wonder When did the spelling change by placing "ί" in place of "ή" ? 1974 new Grammar of Manolis Triantafyllides ? — This unsigned comment was added by 87.203.72.30 (talk).

Most user's interest will be (in order) something like: (1) a decent translation/definition, (2) pronunciation/usage/inflection and somewhere after that "etymology". There are currently over 28k Greek entries - creating the etymology takes time, and is at the bottom of the list of priorities. Dating vowel shifts etcetera (however interesting) is I'm afraid (and assuming it's within Wictionary's ambit) somewhere below that.

And incidentally, although "ήσκιος" is some dictionaries' main entry, "ίσκιος" is the main entry here because it has greater current usage. Saltmarsh (talk) 11:49, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
