the genitives[edit]

Can anyone provide an answer on the correct accentuation of the genitives? I'm confused for the reason I have decribed on User:JorisvS/issues. --JorisvS 19:09, 17 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

See here: νέκταρ τριαντάφυλλου, μπουκιές τριαντάφυλλου, η καταγωγή του τριαντάφυλλου; τριανταφύλλων is easy to explain as an archaistic influence of katharevousa. The official grammar textbook used in Greek schools explicitly mentions the word τριαντάφυλλο among other nouns whose declension follows the paradigm of "το σίδερο, του σίδερου". Τριαντάφυλλου is the genitive of the male given name Τριαντάφυλλος. Τριανταφύλλου is a family name. --flyax 22:05, 17 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
