@Tetromino: What do you think, is it worth including the phraseological unit с миру по нитке — бедному рубаха in synonyms for this word? It seems to mean the same thing, but the phraseological unit is much older than borrowing. Gnosandes (talk) 22:06, 16 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Gnosandes:, it's an almost exact synonym, but from 100 years ago. Compare modern usage of краудфандинг (kraudfanding) to usage of the proverb by Dybenko writing in 1928 about 1917:

Нужно твердо помнить старую русскую пословицу: «С миру по нитке - голому рубашка». И потекут на фронт новые пушки, пулеметы, снаряды, патроны и революционные молодые солдаты. Все дыры на фронте «залатаем»!

I would mark it with a "dated, proverb" qualifier. Tetromino (talk) 13:46, 17 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Tetromino: I think that this is characteristic of revolutionaries and there is no need to draw a general conclusion from this. Even if there is sympathy for such citizens. It seems that even Maxim Gorky rearranged this proverb. But this proverb had many variations and in the 19th century, if I'm not mistaken. :D Gnosandes (talk) 15:28, 18 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
