I am rather confident that "лага" does not come from "lъža" - the two are related and share a root, but they are independently derived from it - the latter contains a palatal suffix, it would appear, whereas the former does not. Otherwise, one would have to postulate that the affricate /ʒ/ depalatalized to /g/ in Macedonian, which would be absurd. I therefore think that the etymological explanation should be made more precise, but I don't have the exact information necessary to remedy it myself.
