Urdu[edit]

@Svartava2 I'm fairly certain this is wrong. ـات equals to -आत, but the transliteration says it should be -it. And as far as I know, the short i vowel isn't representated with an ـی, only the prolonged ī. I assume, then, that you meant to write اِت.

Hi Taimoorahmed11, thanks for seeing. {{xlit|ur|اِت|module=ur-translit}} (which you wrote) gives ⇒ it. By extending that with tatweel, ـاِت (-it) is obtained, right, which links to this page only. Also ـاِت (-it) is currently in the |head= parameter and {{xlit|ur|ـاِت|module=ur-translit}} gives ⇒ -it so what's wrong? Svartava2 (talk) 15:29, 3 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Svartava2 The tatweel is used to create medial and final forms of letters. The medial and final forms of Alef can only represent ā and diacritics can't be used on a medial/final Alif. ـِت or even اِت would be fine but ـاِت wouldn't make sense in Urdu. It would be like adding ि to (-आि) ((-āi)), sure it works but it wouldn't make sense.

@Taimoorahmed11 Then, could you please fix this? Svartava2 (talk) 16:01, 3 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Svartava2, my suggestion would be to add this suffix under ـت#Urdu. Unfortunately I can't move the page since one already exists.

@Taimoorahmed11: you can move it manually (source). I reverted my edits and restored the redirect here. Svartava2 (talk) 03:18, 4 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Svartava2 Please mark this page for speedy deletion (I keep forgetting how to lol). I've (literally) moved your edit to ـت#Urdu. P.s. Apologies for the late response, I had forgot about this discussion. 00:11, 5 October 2021 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── @Svartava2, Taimoorahmed11 Even if the hard redirect ـات is not needed for Urdu, perhaps the it may still be of use for the Arabic and South Levantine Arabic entries on the page ات?
