Min Nan[edit]
For this form, Taiwan MoE gives niau and bâ. They mark the other form 猫 (bâ) as theaji and give only the bâ reading. TDJ page scan does use 猫 for both readings.

- I noticed that Min Nan Wikipedia glossed koé-chí-bâ with 果子猫. Module:zh/data/nan-pron/006 has kóe-chí-bâ/ké-chí-bâ assigned to 果子狸. I created the page at 果子貓, not seeing a precedent for this. Nibiko (talk) 07:26, 1 September 2016 (UTC)
- I changed it to 果子猫 = kóe-chí-bâ/ké-chí-bâ to match the MoE recommendation. The question still stands, does bâ share the same etymology as niau? Hongthay (talk) 16:07, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

Also formerly Miao (ethnic group)?[edit]
Wasn't this character formerly used to refer to the Miao people (ethnic group) of southern China? 173.88.246.138 22:28, 20 June 2020 (UTC)
