Where's the discussion on romanization vs. pronunciation? And does anyone other than me care?

For 20 years, I've seen Westerners stymied by "romanization" systems which have them mispronouncing words left and right. It's at its worst in choir rehearsal, when the transliterated text fails to reflect pronunciation rules.

I think Wikipedia has a table somewhere listing these rules. Like K before M turns into an NG sound, as in 한국말 (romanized as han-guk-mal but pronounced HAN-GOONG-MAL). --Ed Poor 20:46, 5 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
