Island or Islands?[edit]
The official name of Comoros in Arabic is جزر القمر (juzur al-qamar, "islands of the moon"). The article claimsجَزِيرَة القَمَر (jazīrat al-qamar, “island of the moon”) as the origin. Is there a reason the English word would have been derived from the singular form despite the name in Arabic being plural?
