@Myrelia Considering the fact that Froageteken and Froagebuk are included without any note, and skitterg gives the usage example "skitterge Fräigen/ Froagen", I think it's safe to say the word isn't Low German, but rather just a loanword, that maybe isn't often used on its own. - For me, "(Die häufig irrtümlich verwendete Form Froage ist nd.)" sounded like it does occur in East Frisian, but is somewhat proscribed. Doesn't it? --Myrelia (talk) 14:24, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
- To me it sounds a little prescriptivistic, trying to use native Frisian terms rather than Low German borrowings. Also, it seems more difficult to find usage of the native term, so I'm not inclined to label it as proscribed... Thadh (talk) 14:30, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
- prescriptivistic - proscribed: Doesn't it go in the same direction? Or do you mean that rather Fräige should be labelled prescribed? I'm not strongly for adding the label questionable/proscribed, so I wouldn't really mind if it's removed. (Though by the source I'd still say it's proscribed - even if the source is prescriptive like J. C. Adelung or B. - I feel like "proscribed" has more to do with the speakers themselves rather than any official organisation. But I guess the current label is the most accurate. Thadh (talk) 15:18, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
