Calque?[edit]

While some authors translate the German term into its literal meaning, handstone, this calque is not actually used.

Yes - Some authors tread Handstein as a German word, and state that it translates to handstone, but when you look at English texts that refer to these ornaments, they invariably call them Handsteins, not handstones. Kiwima (talk) 05:51, 18 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
