Etymology of Turkish Manastır[edit]

 1. Monastir in Turkish latin alfhabet Manastır + *Albanian: Manastiri
 1. According to Turkish constractive langugist Kaymakam Eyup Sabri Kartal : Monastir name comes from "'manas".It means hero in Turkish. [1]. "-tır" suffix means "it is". [2] Manastır means that it is hero. Kirgyz people were established in 8.th centuary to Monastir according to Bizantium archives. Manastir Ottoman writing style *"manas" means hero in Turkish. [3]. [4] Manastır means that it is hero. The former Ottoman turkish name of Bitola in Macedonia was Monastir but changed to "Bitola'" by Bulgars and Greeks and Serbians which they invaded it from Ottoman Empire. --25px<span style="color:white;background:red;">&nbsp;3210&nbsp;</span> <font size="-2">(T)</font> 21:20, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
Are you sure that Ottoman Turkish Monastir is not just an adoption of earlier Greek name of the city Μοναστήρι < μοναστήριον (whence (deprecated template usage) monastery)? --Ivan Štambuk 21:28, 22 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
