I just discovered this abbreviation today, and it seems as if it and its variants are leading many to the notion that addition always precedes subtraction, so that, for example, 2 - 5 + 3 = 2 - (5 + 3) = 2 - 8 = -6 (see for example [1]), which is of course utterly wrong. I've reworded the entry slightly, but I'm not sure whether more clarification is needed. I am also reluctant to call a paranthesis an operator, when it's really just a way to modify the order of operations.__Gamren (talk) 19:55, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
