It is a created word regarding "sunny boy". I thought the word creator was w:Akio Morita, a co-founder of Sony corporation. See w:Akio Morita#Sony for details. --Eveningmist 05:06, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Previously discussed on RFD; see Wiktionary:Requests for deletion/Archives/2007/07#Sony. Some good work has been done here, so it seemed a shame to delete the entry out of hand. Can the required citations be found? -- Visviva 15:11, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Found a few for both brand and company. Let me know if more are required. DAVilla 07:47, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alternate pronunciation?[edit]

My old boss pronounced it /'sɒni/, to rhyme with bonny. Is that normal at all? Perhaps it's an older form? (Compare how Nestlé in Britain used to be nestles, like what an animal does.) It also seems as though this might match a Japanese transliteration more closely. Equinox 09:13, 1 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
