Possible alternate etymology[edit]

Chambers 1908 gives the Erasmus etymology that we have, but also says the term has been explained as a corruption of Helena, name of the sister of Castor and Pollux. Equinox ◑ 03:25, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
