Why is this glossed as British? Do e.g. Americans never drop the dot in "St."? Equinox ◑ 20:41, 4 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

AFAIK, to the extent it's possible to make a generalization like this, we don't drop the period in Mr., Mrs., Dr(s)., St. or Ste. (Or Messrs., though that's pretty much obsolete now.) I personally would never consider it an option. --BB12 (talk) 15:51, 5 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
