German translation[edit]

"Salz in die Wunde streuen" is much too tame a translation for to add insult to injury. "Salz in die Wunde streuen" may be cruel, but justified, whereas to add insult to injury is much closer to "auf jmd., der am Boden liegt, noch eintreten" (lit.
