"waneer" is given as a synonym for "als" While both can be translated as "when" in English, I do not see a definition that both "waneer" and "als" share.

"if" and "when" are given as one definition of "als" as a conditional. Neededandwanted 04:15, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree it was confusing and a very critical definition was missing. JamesjiaoTC 04:21, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Dutch word "als" in colloquial speech[edit]

In the Netherlands the 'l' in 'als' has become 'lazy' and is therefore rarely pronounced. Often the spelling of 'als' is changed to 'as', especially in colloquial writings. Some popular expressions with 'as' are asjeblieft and asjemenou The use of 'as' instead of 'als' does not only occur in the 'The Hague dialect region', but in the entire Netherlands, including 'real' dialect regions, like the Eastern Netherlands. 'As' is a general colloquial form of 'als' in the Netherlands. Amand Keultjes (talk) 19:53, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
