There are quite few and sparse definitions of atheology. My paper copy of Concise Oxford Dictionary calls 'theology' the study of the theistic (especially Christian) religion. It seems logical to me that 'atheology' would be the study of alternatives to the theistic religions or even the study of the atheistic non-religion.

Websters 1913 has the definition now at the entry. Yours is commented out for now. If you find usage (especially post-1913) not consistent with the old Websters definition, then another sense might be warranted.
