    We are running a V6 based system with V7 file systems crafted in (but it still supports V6 ones too) and the Berkeley TCP/IP implementation backported (we gotta be on the net) but without such attrosities as systems that won't run on small PDP-11's or funny multiplexed files or packet drivers or protocol machines...

    Now if we #define void int as the standard suggests for backporting purposes, "old" compilers will happily compile the code without complaint--and on systems where (int *) != (char *), all hell will mysteriously break loose at runtime.

    I think backports to 7.0.16 _may_ be available on some ports for the bug Lee mentioned above (bug# 169181) but I am not certain.

It doesn't seem to meet our CFI requirements but you can find some uses of downport on the Web, possibly referring to ports (platform conversions) of video games etc. that have dropped features or are somehow inferior. Equinox 09:59, 27 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
